WHO ARE WE
“The Right First-Aid For The Right Situation”
We produce specialized first-aid kits developed by an expert in first-aid. Our founder, Joshua Edelstein, has spent over a decade in public safety, with specialized training and experience in advanced life support, at the highest level of prehospital care, EMT-Paramedic.
The sea has always been a big part of Josh’s life, growing up near the Pacific in California, living oceanfront in South America, and now in coastal Alabama. Jellyfish were certainly a problem but without a practical, effective product, he thought he had no choice but to endure the pain or not enjoy the ocean.
How was the Purple Flag Day, Marine Life Sting First-Aid kit developed?
Josh took his family to the beach on his son Evan’s 9th birthday and Evan wanted to try out the new boogy board he received as a gift. Shortly after entering the water, (minutes after arriving at the beach) Evan was stung by a jellyfish in the warm waters of The Gulf of Mexico. Josh first removed the tentacles from Evan’s arm with his fingers (stinging himself in the process) and then had him submerge the stung area in the saltwater. While those actions alone brought the pain to an 8/10 vs a 9/10, it still took at least an hour before all the tears stopped. During that time, as they sat in the calm breakers, Josh knew there must be a better first-aid solution.
Like most people would do, the first thing he did was an online search after they returned home. He saw a few products that looked like they might have promise but upon further research, did not contain anything that helped lower the intensity of the sting or shorten the duration of discomfort.
At that moment, he understood he would need to use his training, experience as a Paramedic, and lifetime seaside knowledge to develop a product that was mild enough to be used on sensitive skin, easy to carry, and most importantly, provides first-aid that works. After extensive research and testing, the Purple Flag Day Marine Life Sting First+Aid kit was born.
Our Mission: To create effective, specialty first-aid solutions at an affordable price.
We know jellyfish aren’t always on your mind, especially if you don’t live on the coast.
